Designing a bookcover for the book «Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption». Using gestalt principle «figure-ground» and the «law of common fate». Figure-ground is when the dove and hammer creates a shape – being the foreground. And then the picture inside the dove is the background. The design continues with the rocks from the hammer, turning into flying birds. The design/gestalt principle stands out when elements that are moving together tends to be perceived as a group of elements. This gestalt principle is called law of common fate. The flying dove symbolizes freedom, one of the main theme in this book.
